Molly Ivins wants to run Moyers for president. I'm in.
I'll be away from the internets for a few days, so even though I haven't really been posting a lot even the automated content generation stuff that goes on will stop. Wow, that sentence really sucks and I don't really have the brain capacity to re-work it right now.
Don't worry, dear reader, you'll get through the dry spell somehow.
I will return with silks and spices from far away lands and tales of giants and monsters and yes, dragons. Oh, and probably a ton of photos that will take me a month to process.
Please do not fill up the tubes while I'm gone. The internets aren't big trucks, ya know...

It's time for Vertical Hold's own Late Night Music Club. Tonight's special is The Damange Manual. Chris Connelly, Jah Wobble, and William Rieflin...how could you possibly go wrong with that? An industrial super group that actually makes music you want to listen to, go figure...
We have been worthless
we have been safe
in mind belittled by the threat
or our own ice age
it fades our fingers
that cannot grasp
the tools that injured,
bled or burned us in the pastA fall distorts us
and where we've been
re writing bastards as contendors
sight unseen
In place of angels - butchers hands
too wide to fit through doors of virtueBlame, demand
Blame and demand
No need of virtue
no time for chance
great plains of anger worked to death
by circumstance
ignite your answeres
they fought that hard
to waste your wonders and endeavours
from the startWe count for distance
from human nerves
we count for all the things we take
that we don't deserve
all contradictions
will wake us to stand
to fake the end as the beginningBlame and demand
Watch the vid for Sunset Gun.
I don't really like to do whole posts that just pimp something you can buy at Amazon, but The Boondocks deserves some special attention.
I felt that this was an absolutely amazing show. It took no prisoners. It was like listening to Public Enemy for the first time. I was instantly hooked.
Yes, it uses "The 'N' Word" a lot. Well, not really a lot, more like all the time. If that makes you uncomfortable this uncensored version is not for you. Don't buy it. Don't rent it. But do try and watch it on TV. There is a message there. Not to white people. Not to black people. Not to liberals. Not to conservatives. But to Americans. We all live here. We really should try and grok one another.
Plus, y'all ni**az are crazy...

another pragmatic book worth looking into
On Saturday Kat wanted to get some open-water swimming in. She is training for a triathlon after-all. So off to the Oroville Forebay we went. It was just before 10am and already JFMEC hot. There were a few people there already having what seemed like birthday parties. Why you would do that in this kind of heat is beyond me. Anyways, there was a couple near my spot in the shade, so I figured I would get a few candid shots. I think this one turned out pretty well. The original title was "Topless?" in a crass appeal for more Flickr views. We all know what sells.
