There was a commerical for The Yellow Pages®™© that said if it wasn't in The Yellow Pages, it may not exist. Well, Kyrgyzstan has been in the news lately. I'd never heard of it. I didn't think it really existed. Somebody just decided to make up a new 'Stan.
So I looked it up in The Yellow Pages. It wasn't there. So then I tried Flickr and sure enough, it's real. What does it mean? Absolutely nothing.
Tis the good bartender himself...he speaks.
2002, California...mmmmmmmmmm
You, are becoming Gods. There's a new master of creation, and it's you! Unraveled DNA, and at the same time you're cultivating bacteria strong enough to kill every living thing! Do you think you are ready for that much power? You lot? You lot? Cheeky bastards. You're running around science like kids with guns, creating a new world, while the world you've got is stinking, but, hands up, hands up anyone who thinks you've got it right. Yeah, there's always one. I can see you. If you want the position of God then take the responsibility.

It's true. It's all true. I'm working on the next CSU, Chico portal. Of course, all that is over-shadowed by the change in the class numbering scheme.
2002 California vintage. Pretty good...I would buy it again.
So while playing with Ruby on Rails, I've been trying to get mod_fastcgi to work with my RHEL AS release 3 (Taroon Update 4) install. Lots of undefined reference to various apr_* calls, the whole apache runtime libs. I was using apxs just like I should have. The best hints I could find was "don't use apxs" and use the latest mod_fastcgi-SNAP (2.4.3) which has a sample Makefile.AP2 to get it to compile. Here is the key for the RedHat stock apache setup:
top_dir = /usr/lib/httpd
This will point to the right apache .mk files so that you will get the proper libraries linked in. After that, it's all the same standard stuff. This tip for debian led me to my fix.
I've been looking forward to a lazy weekend for a while. Last weekend we hit SF. This past week at work was pretty busy. So, today I slept in until 7:30am (which sadly enough, is pretty late for me), read some news, made some Forwarding Address posts, and then thought about seeing a movie. Man, there is nothing worth seeing.
- Be Cool (saw it -- 3/5 stars)
- Constantine (saw it -- 3/5 stars only because I never read the comic)
- Hitch
- Hostage
- Ice Princess
- Million Dollar Baby
- The Pacifier
- The Ring Two
- Robots
- Born Into Brothels
Chico used to have 4 movie theaters. Now we have two, and yes, I am counting the Pageant. Why wouldn't I?
Now I know why I let Atrios read Jonah Goldberg for me.
Oy!
You will listen to The Chemical Brothers' - Push the Button and Orbital's - Blue Album. Both albums are the best stuff I've heard from either band in years.
That is all.
Lately I've been posting grabs from my favorites browser, but I thought I would take a bit to pimp some of my recent shots.

Update: D'oh, urls updated.

The 8×8 version catches a few that I missed along the way.
Even Jon Stewart was all giddy with "freedom is coming to the Middle East and it's all the neocons doing" the other day, but now as we see other events in Lebanon unfold, Juan Cole puts it into perspective.
This interpretation is a gross misunderstanding of the situation in the Middle East.
I think the fact that the Middle East is too complicated a situation for President Bush to wrap his head around is still not sinking in.
I've been flickrzened. That is all.
Good..doubt I would buy it over a Seabridge.
It was good, but it seemed "spicy."
Syria Vows Complete and Swift Lebanon Pullout or Syria Announces Gradual Lebanon Pullback. The date of our invasion depends on it...
It appears that former über-blogger Billmon may be dangling his toes into the waters of writing original material again. Don't get me wrong, nobody does BushCo/1984 & Catch-22 juxtapositions like Mr. Bill, but I miss his writing. But, then again, I'm sure he gets in as much trouble for being on the computer at night as I do.
Rusheed Limballah. Where does he get those wonderful ideas?
I was going to try and start moving over to the released a week too late to use it from the beginning PEAR Flick_API pacakge...but then I realized my head was pounding and I needed to zonk myself out if I was going to get any sleep tonight.
