EPA Plans to Ease Utility Emission Rules The Bush administration on Friday proposed relaxing clean air rules to give old coal-fired power plants more leeway to avoid costly maintenance work, a plan criticized by environmental groups who said it would mean dirtier air.

EPA still stands for Environmental Protection Agency, right? I just want to make sure it didn't change when I wasn't looking or something.

Only in the Midwest though, right? If true, I have to wonder why. Interstingly, Canada has no EPA or Endangered Species Act, and their record is arguably better than ours. What's up w/ that?

Well, you can always turn off CRTs and laser printers when not in use. Even at idle, those devices consume like an ass-you-vee.

ARG! this is the same bullshit he pulled here in texas when he was gub-nuh. he pushed the leg. to enact all these "grandfather clauses" that allowed factories to "voluntarily" upgrade to equipment that emmitted less. however, there was NO PENALTY if they didn't upgrade. only 4 factories upgraded.
same shit, different day.
