Crow tastes like Apples?

Dell selling Apple's iPods In a case of strange bedfellows, Dell Computer has started selling Apple Computer's iPod portable music player, CNET News.com has learned.

How classic is this? I guess Mr. Dell isn't thinking Apple should shut it's doors and give us stockholders our money back anymore. Good for him, they all come around eventually ;-)

Back in the late 80s and early 90s I would go to a different office with a mac in it to use the e-mail. The only reason I did that was that using the Mac felt so much more enjoyable than my PC. It would be a shame if the Macs were to go away, so I am sure they won't. Way to go Dell.

I just had to laugh at this since Mr. Dell once said that Apple should "shut it's doors and give the money back to the shareholers."

Clearly success is the best revence after all.

I don't think at this juncture Dell needs to worry about Apple taking away market share. I mean, CEOs do say the darnest things. I recall looking at an OS/2 manual back in '95. The interesting thing about it was the introduction. The author of the intoruction was saying how great OS/2 is, how it is the way of the future and how it will fundamentally change home and business computing. Nothing special, except that the author of the introduction was Bill Gates.

Not now. But at the time Mr. Dell, while a bit out of line, was just kicking Apple when they were down. They were down, but not in any danger of closing shop.

One thing about being a CEO, what you say will be remembered. All the more reason to be careful about what you say.

Of course, not a single professional sports season goes by without somebody saying something that becomes "bulletin board" material, serving no function other than motivating the other side.

Maybe Mr. Dell and Mr. Jobs were just showing how badly they wished they were pro athletes? ;-)

A good idea is just a good idea. The PC alternatives still SUCK -- good for them for giving people a product that isn't crippled like the USB devices I've seen.
