P2P foes defend hacking bill
Supporters angrily defend a proposed law that would permit copyright holders to assail peer-to-peer networks, saying it has been mischaracterized by opponents. [CNET News.com]
Berman and the RIAA are on the media war path trying to paint the opponents of H.R. 5211 as Chicken Little, running around making bogus claims. The EFF, while not mentioned in the above article, is certainly a vocal opponent of this bill. Fred von Lohmann wrote a very clear essay to state the EFF position.
What Berman and the RIAA fail to mention is that the EFF is not against protection of copyright. The EFF is against giving an industry the right to violate the law. I don't find that such an extreme position to take...do you?
