Yes folks, that's Dick Armey, our House Majority Leader. Why doesn't he just do things the easy way and instead of singling out every group he finds stupid or deplorable, just say that old, white guys rule? It would save him loads of time.

Okay, there are several issues here. First of all I feel that the statement slights those scientist who are elderly or simply don't abuse viagra. On a more serious note, whatever issues I may personally have with liberal dogma (whatever that may be), I find "liberals" to be much more engaging, interesting, insightful and plain fun than your typical "conservative" (like all generalizations this one has numerous exceptions). Last Saturday at a black tie social affair, I was sweating really hard, trying to come up with topics of conversation while chatting with a local head of the Republican gentry. When we got to the topic of WMDs and began to talk about Iraq's potential NUKELAR capabilities I took a great deal of resolve not to neuter him with a spoon I happened to be holding at the time. He was not reactionary, or express outlandish opinions, he was just fairly shallow and far from engaging. I'll take a flaming liberal any day.

I wonder what he considers the "hard sciences" to be. As a born-again science major myself, I've noticed that, at least among bio-sciences, most of the PhDs are quite liberal in conversation and deed. Even the competitive logging team (I'm not making this up) is full of tree-planters.

Maybe the difference is that Democrats don't make blanket smears like that, they merely say that every single Republican is individually stupid.
Well, I personally have been very hard on the President, but in no way have I ever mentioned that all conservatives are morons, because the simple fact is that they aren't.
There are many intelligent conservatives, liberals, centrists, and on and on...but for Armey to say that liberals in general are dumb, is well...dumb.
trust me, there are no democrats in armey's district. see, down here in tex-us, democrats are really (for the most part, oh here comes that blanket statement...) moderate republicans. and republicans are christian conservatives (witness our president).
and i make that statement as an 11 year texas resident who's lived all over this state.
